MASCOT is again set to test our workwear under extreme conditions by being part of one of the world’s toughest and most extreme races, the Dakar Rally, in January 2017. MASCOT continues to collaborate with Tim and Tom Coronel who, in the 2017 edition of the Dakar Rally, will again try to conquer South America. MASCOT is looking forward to the cooperation during which the clothing will be thoroughly tested under open skies in the most extreme weather conditions with rapid weather changes from cold to heat and from dry to wet.
The official preparations for the race for Tim and Tom kicked off at the RTL GP DAKAR Pre-Prologue last Sunday in Valkenswaard, Holland. The Pre-prologue is a show race held for the 13th time; a chance for the many attendees to experience the participants showcasing the vehicles that they will be driving in the DAKAR Rally 2017 in the beginning of January.
Tim Coronel said this before the race: “We are very excited and proud to finally show our Dakar-buggy to the audience. It is about entertaining the audience and we really want to win the race. It will be a celebration and this year the water basin is part of the course, which will guarantee a lot of fun. We have to warn the audience about the risk of getting wet. But we won’t get away easy either as our buggy doesn’t have a windshield so there is a risk that we will get a little wet.”
Tim Coronel came in second in his class at the DAKAR Pre-prologue. In the final he was beaten by Erik Van Loon for the second year in a row.
